Corría el año 1964 cuando Lou Reed y John Cale montaron la mítica The Velvet Underground, seamos sinceros, eran un par de muertos de hambre, su primer disco solo vendió 30.000 copias, pero como diría más adelante Bryan Eno: «Este primer álbum solo vendió 30.000 copias pero todos lo que compraron una de ellas montaron un grupo» y es por eso que The Velvet Underground es considerado uno de los grupos más influyentes de la historia de la música. 

Sobre ellos se dijo de todo, que Reed sufría celos de Cale, quien estudiaba música clásica desde los 5 años, que aceptaron la participación de Nico (Christa Päffgen) en su época en The Factory, con Andy Warhol como manager, porque era condición sine qua non para poder participar en los eventos de Exploding Plastic Inevitable. Que es donde realmente se dio a conocer a la banda. 

Pero si algo está claro es que este álbum debut, tan denostado por las discográficas, sufrió rechazo tras rechazo por su contenido claramente provocativo, en el que se cantaba lo mismo a la heroína que al sado, es uno de los mejores álbumes de todo los tiempos. 

Y cómo se masca todo esto. Pues yo os lo cuento. La primitiva The Velvet Underground consiguió un contrato para tocar en Café Bizarre y dos días antes de que los despidieran (fracaso de nuevo) Warhol cayó por allí a tomar algo. Warhol quería una banda para sus fiestas y performances en la Factory y es así como surgió uno de los idilios entre artistas de distinta índole más prolífico de la historia. 

The Velvet Underground tocaba para Warhol, aceptando incluir a Nico en su grupo, y Warhol diseñó para ellos la mítica portada de su disco debut con un plátano amarillo que se puede pelar, dejando ver su carne rosa, Además Warhol actúo de manager y es quien finalmente consiguió un contrato con la discográfica Verve para la banda.

Si algo debemos a The velvet Underground es que fue una banda que supo distanciarse de la típica escena musical  del momento, lejos de la psicodelia y la cultura hippie de San Francisco. 

Y este Señoras y Señores, es el look perfecto para un concierto de rock,  porque la primavera ya ha llegado al Corte Inglés, pero en mi casa sigue haciendo un frío que pela, y sí, el abrigo es vintage y aunque sé a ciencia cierta que no, sueño con que hubiera pertenecido a alguien como Nico (Christa Päffgen), cantante, modelo, actriz y mujer atormentada, amante de Morrison y Alain Delon entre otros, pero no seré yo quien juzgue a una mujer por sus amantes.

Lost of gossips around the band, as that Reed suffered jealousy of Cale, who studied classical music since age 5, and that they accepted the participation of Nico in the band just to play at The Factory of Andy Warhol because it was a sine qua non condition to participate in the events of Exploding Plastic Inevitable. That’s where the band really reach success.

But if something is truth is that this debut album, rejected by discographies for its clearly provocative content, which sang the same to the heroine that sado, is one of the best albums of all the times.

And how Warhol met met band? The primitive The Velvet Underground got a contract to play at Café Bizarre and two days before they were fired (again) Warhol went there to drink something. Warhol wanted a band for his parties and performances at the Factory and that is how one of the most prolific artistic idyllic came to life.

The Velvet Underground played for Warhol, accepting to include Nico in their group, and Warhol designed for them the mythical cover of his debut album with a yellow banana that can be peeled, revealing its pink flesh. In addition Warhol manage the band and is the one who finally got a contract with Verve Discography for the band.

If we owe something to The Velvet Underground, is the distance from the typical musical scene of the moment, far from the psychedelia and the hippie culture of San Francisco.

And this Ladies and Gentlemen, is the perfect look for a rock concert, because spring has already arrived but not in my town where it is still freezing, and yes, the coat is vintage, and although I know for sure not, I dream that it would have belonged to someone like Nico (Christa Päffgen), singer, model, actress and tormented woman, lover of Morrison and Alain Delon among others, but I will not be the one to judge a woman for her lovers.
